Be Like Tiny Tim
I’m sure not many of you remember funky Tiny Tim from the 70’s. His music was a symbol of the times, and his song “Tiptoe Through The Tulips” pops in my mind every time I gather greens and other products from around the area. A reminder that I’m being free and independent with my business model.

Years ago foraging was considered taboo, like not cool. Some designers called the cuttings “roadsidia” meaning, stopping by the side of the road to trim items, almost embarrassed to admit they do it.
Once I realized the huge advantage it became a passion I will never stop. Acting on this allows my designs to be more creative whenever I want with value and beauty at the forefront.
I have certain curly willow trees I cut from, other areas that are abundant with sea foam statice, varieties of pittosporum. And so many Olive Trees in our area! Man, like a feast to grab and rework into designs.
The ideas flow so much better when you have access to these items. Creativity abounds because this green is right there for you to use, no shipment to wait for, or trucker to come by. Just pure, fresh beauty to share with our world.
Don’t be a tight ass and think you’re too good to do this, a designer way beyond the scope of a home florist, appealing only to the upper echelon of the client world. I use these foraged beauties for billionaires, millionaires, and everyday people like myself. In my world, everyone gets to share in this bounty from nature. I just happen to be the savvy guy that takes the time to give the best value with more profit to keep the cycle going. And if more profit is a solid by product, I’m even happier when I’m gingerly tiptoeing around.
